The Twisted World Of The Aussie Media

Another week, another load of hysterical sensationalised articles by the so-called media.

Predictably Sheik Taj has been in the news again, this time for saying that Muslims who chose to become Australians have more right to be here than convicts- a comment which though silly- no Australian has more right to be here than anyother Australian- isn't as offensive as News Ltd and the right wing shock jocks would have us believe.

In fact many articles and talkback shows feature some of the most horrific things about Muslims- articles by Piers Akerman, Andrew Bolt, Janet Albrechtson are consistent in their offensive comments towards Islam and Muslims whilst people like Alan Jones and Jim Ball have had people on their shows advocating violence and even the bombing of mosques.

The most offensive of the Sheiks comments- "....Westerners are liars, especially the English..." wasn't bad enough for News Ltd and their cronies, they had to deliberately lie about what he said, even when they showed the true quote the article would still say that the Sheik called White Australians liars- which he never did.

Not to be outdone the Daily Telegraphs anti-Muslim attack dog, Luke McIlveen, then dug up a 3 year old DVD of Sheik Feiz urging Muslims to bring up their children with a devotion and passion for God. The media went rabid about this claiming that the Sheik advocated violence, when he in fact said no such thing. He never urged suicide bombings or anything like that but again the media has no interests in the truth.

Now watch this video from Fox News- the presenter comments that THIS IS HUGE- so what's so huge????? The fact that a presidential candidate may have been raised as a Muslim- that's the guys crime.



Now I'm not going to excuse Sheik Feiz or Sheik Taj about what they said. Their comments were silly and offensive to some people, but what we did not need was the predictable hysterical rantings of the media drama queens twisting the words. The comments were offensive in their original form there was no need to reinterpret and add new meanings to the words.

The media has now moved onto Sheik Taj wanting to run for Parliament, however no media organisation has provided a quote from the Sheik that he wants to run nor have any of his spokespeople said that. The closet we've got is that the Sheik may endorse some candidates to run in the election, but this didn't stop the reactionary politicians like Morris Iemma trying to get their bit of action.

Guess what guys this is a democracy, people are free to run for election if they so choose, I mean if people like Pauline Hanson, David Oldfield and Jim Saleam can run then so can the Sheik.

Who knows what next week will bring- either way you can bet there is more sensationalised nonsense coming from the usual channels.

Before I leave you here is just a small sampling of comments from the Daily Telegraph website- a website which states it will not publish offensive comments- as well as the personal blog of the Telegraphs Opinion Editor Tim Blair- well you can be the judge, are these comments at the very least as offensive as anything the Sheiks have said?

When a “religion” is based upon the dictates of a holy book that exhorts its followers to “Kill all Christians and Jews wherever you find them”, then we know what Muslims really stand for. I for one do not tolerate such a hate-filled creed or the fanatics that follow it.

I feel very sorry for Ms Hage-Ali and the best thing she could do for herself is to renounce the evil that is Islam and just live her life as a normal young Australian girl. As for the Muslim fanatics that condemn her, if they don’t like what goes on in Australia, they can emigrate to one of their Islamic paradises, such as Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya etc, instead of burdening us with their hatred."

"It has just been proved that the morality and tolerance of Islam has not moved one iota in the last 600 years. Islamic Fanatics can justify any claims, but any criticism is rejected as hateful, discriminatory and evil. It is OK to preach genocide, promote murder, entrench female slavery and prohibit free speech, as longs as you are Islamic. In Islamic countries it is dangerous (if not illegal) for some one to preach any other faith. Often it is just as dangerous o preach a different type of Islam. Yet Islam demands that the can freely preach in non-Muslim countries. Why do their leaders fear freedom, education and criticism? To recant your faith in Islam is punishable by death. A religion that not only would condemn your soul, but also encourage your murder. There must be many millions of Muslims that would wish to leave this blood thirsty religion, but only stay for fear of their life. Each individual religious teacher can say what ever they want. The way that Islamic sects seem to debate is by murdering their critics (both Muslims and non-Muslim) in a most indiscriminate way, also killing hundreds of bystanders. This religion of hate, intolerance and murder should be prohibited. No civilised person could even consider this to be a religion. The puppet leaders of Islamic countriues that wish to retain this dead religion, should not have any of the amenities of modern society. They wish to live with 14th Century leaders and philosophy then they should also have similar medicine, weapons and education."

Daily Telegraph Editor Defends The Tele's "Reporting"

Like a cockroach running when you turn on the lights, so to is the Daily Telegraph's editor David Penberthy running from the truth.

David has written to Crikey defending his newspaper's reporting of the Iktimal Hage-Ali cocaine issue, but it seems his defence falls short because it looks like he failed to speak to his journalists about the issue.

This blog has confirmation that Luke McIlveen contacted Iktimal about her arrest on the morning the original positive stories were run, I'll repeat that again he contacted her ON THE MORNING the story was run. Now to contact somebody to get confirmation tells me and any other normal person that Luke McIlveen knew about it before hand, and you can bet that if Luke knew about it so to did his puppet masters at the Telegraph. For them to have contacted her in the morning they would've known about it at least the day before. Interesting thing to note is that this blog actually heard about the arrest 3 days before the Telegraphs positive story, so you can bet the Tele with all their sources knew about it as well.

David attempts to somehow justify his newspapers stance by saying:
"This newspaper did not know of Ms Hage-Ali’s cocaine arrest when it published a news story, editorial and opinion piece defending her earlier this month over attacks from hardliners within the Muslim community for her drinking champagne at the NSW Australian of the Year awards. "

Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen another lie from David- "...attacks from hardliners within the Muslim community for her drinking champagne...." Now if David, as well as his lazy journalists had done a little bit of objective journalism they would've seen that it wasn't hardliners being critical of Iktimal, it was ordinary everyday Muslims who are concerned about the behaviour of those who the media labels as "Muslim Leaders".

Penberthy then goes on to say:
"It was only because of our support for her that we were contacted by persons with information about her cocaine arrest who rightly told us that we had not published the full story. We then contacted her and asked her whether it was true that she had been arrested and interviewed by police in relation to using cocaine;"

Note that he avoids mentioning when they contacted her, it is obvious he is running away from the truth- but that's something we have come to expect from Penberthy and his acolytes at the Tele.

David continues on his rampage, now choosing to savage and vilify Irfan Yusuf who had the gall to mention that he was subjected to some vile messages on his News Ltd blog. A quick read of the Daily Telegraph blogs reveals a wicked mix of hate and racism by some it's readers, one post to the story of a young 8 yr old boy who drowned trying to save his sister managed to include an attack on Islam:
"notice these poor folks are Muslim. I wonder if this tragedy would have happened if they allowed their girls to go to mixed gender swimming classes, instead of insisting that they go to the few female-only classes available. From the description of this incident, it sounds like the little girl just lost her footing and was helpless -- just like all the "30 family members" who watched from the shore, apparently because they couldn't swim either. Penberthy finishes off with one last lie:
"because we subscribe to the old-fashioned notion that it’s not our job as a newspaper to censor people’s views and shut down debate."

This blog has posted at least a dozen comments on the Telegraph, all of which for some reason, did not appear- but don't take my word for it:
"Assalam Alaykum, given that there are several times i have posted comments on the Daily Telegraph website that were not published for some reason - i've decided to start a thread whereby any reader comments that aren't published are displayed for the Islamic community to see. - JStevens1044"

To further prove that David Penberthy plays loose with the truth here is the message that comes up when a post is made on the Telegraphs site:

"Please note that we are not able to publish all the comments that we receive, and that we may edit some comments to ensure their suitability for publishing.

Feedback will be rejected if it does not add to a debate, or is a purely personal attack, or is offensive, repetitious, illegal or meaningless, or contains clear errors of fact.

Although we try to run feedback just as it is received, we reserve the right to edit or delete any and all material."

So David according to your newspapers own website there is proof that you do censor people's views.

People can make up their own minds.

No Ethics At News Limited

Last week the hacks at News Limited went out of their way to build up the self-appointed Muslim "leader" Iktimal Hage-Ali. Boy oh boy did they go for it, they claimed she was a great Australian, we had a few articles dedicated to her appearing throughout the News Limited publications, they even had their in-house redneck Piers Akerman write a couple of articles praising Iktimal and vilifying those who dared condemn her (note that Piers couldn't even get the spelling of her name right).

This week News Limited is tearing this girls reputation apart over the fact that she was arrested by Police during a raid on an alleged cocaine dealing syndicate. For the record Iktimal was arrested and interviewed by Police BUT she was released without charge- I'll say it again she was RELEASED WITHOUT CHARGE. The arrest took place about a week before she won the NSW Young Australian of the Year award, and Police still haven't laid charges against he, in fact all indications are that she will not be charged.

Now this isn't good enough for the hate mongers at News Limited, they considered this front page news and it has so far run for two days with no indication that it will be letting up anytime soon.

Things though get alot more interesting, the "journalists" at News Limited knew about her arrest before they published last weeks articles praising Iktimal, she was also hired by News Limited to write an online blog for their website.

So here you have an organisation who knows about an arrest, but still chooses to build this person up as a role model and give her a job- a week later though they decide to bring the girl down with vicious articles to tarnish her reputation.

It is obvious there is an agenda here, it is as plain as daylight- let's build up a young Muslim woman and then let's expose her as being no better than the rest of them.

This is journalism at it's worst, and the News Limited journalists should be the last people to attack somebody for using cocaine. This is a shameful attack by people with a hate driven agenda.

News Limited publications are now the equal of Nazi propoganda, their website features some of the most vile hate filled rubbish on the blogs including posts which show extreme racism to a young Muslim boy who drowned while trying to save his sister.

This blog knew about the arrest of Iktimal before last weeks worship of her by News Limited and before I posted a condemnation of Iktimal as a Muslim leader, however as I have standards and ethics, I chose not to post that information about her even though I was being critical of her. Standards and ethics however mean nothing to the morons at News Limited.

Vilified Over A Sip Of Bubbly

So how many articles do you think would be enough about a young woman, who was being criticised by her fellow Muslims as unrepresentative of them? One, two, three? Nope, the Daily Telegraph has dedicated four different articles including an editorial.

So what has caused all the outrage? Well a few Muslims have dared voice their concern over a so-called representative who drinks alcohol and doesn't wear the hijab.

I mean how dare they expect that a media-appointed Islamic leader should set an example.

Here's the thing, if she wants to drink that's fine just don't hold yourself up as being representative of Muslims.

We are told Iktimal Hage-Ali has done alot of good work out there, fantastic, keep it up but don't undo that good work by prentending you are something that you are not.

For the record, I wish her luck and congratulate her for her Australian of the Year nomination but her nomination should be due to the work that she has done, not her representation of the Muslim community.

People in certain roles have certain responsibilities and unless they uphold them then they shouldn't be in those positions.
